KHADC panel on lineage bill to submit report soon

SHILLONG: The Consultative Committee that has been tasked to look into the KHAD (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (2nd Amendment) Bill, 2018, will soon send its suggestions to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, chairman Manstudy Nongrem said, “It is the last sitting of the consultative committee. We will send our suggestion to the executive committee in a day or two.”
He added that the committee had a detailed discussion on the bill that has 14 rectifications.
Legal consultant Erwin Sutnga said, “Technical errors in the first and second amendments of the bill have been rectified.”
The committee asserted that the spirit of the bill remains the same and things will be clear on the day the committee hands over a copy of the suggestions to the Executive Committee.
