State swimmers given first responder training

SHILLONG: Sixteen members of the Meghalaya Swimming Association – an affiliation of Indian Olympic Association – were imparted first responder training to strengthen the life saving skills at Crinoline Swimming pool on Saturday by the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute.
The participants were taught basic first aid along with Cardio pulmonary resuscitation skills and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator with special emphasis on how to handle near drowning cases apart from medical and trauma emergencies.
The training was a part of increasing safety standards at the swimming pool.
The successful participants were awarded certificates by GVK EMRI.
