Inadequate sanitation plagues Civil Hospital

SHILLONG: Shillong Civil Hospital is battling with sanitation and hygienic issues even as patients throng the hospital.
When reporters visited the male general ward, foul smell emanated from the toilet raising a concern on its ill effect on the patients who have to face the unhygienic condition.
Even cobwebs were seen at the drip stand and the ventilators looked dirty. The premises of the Hospital lack sanitation and cleanliness.
An official at the hospital pointed to the increasing number of patients, who chose to get treated in Civil Hospital.
“Cleaners are available in the Hospital. However, the hospital is also dealing with extra patients,” an official said. There are times that the number of patients increase which prompt the authority to use the passage to accommodate patients, the official added.
