SHILLONG: Eleven years after he was accused of stealing cattle, a former acting sordar has approached the media seeking justice.
PL Nonglait, former acting Sordar of Domkseh, Mawiang Syiemship, gave his version of the case for the first time. He said on March 23, 2007, around 3am, he was assaulted by 20 men and one of them attacked him with an iron rod.
They accused him of stealing cattle and took him to a place where the crowd wanted to kill him. “At that time I was not allowed to speak and I was beaten up,” he said, adding that police saved him at the right time.
Nonglait said the case is pending in the District Council Court. When asked why he was narrating the incident after 11 years, he said his lawyer suggested him to approach the media. He also sought help from the MDA government.
