UDP may release first list of candidates for Council polls today

SHILLONG: The central election committee of the UDP will hold a meeting on Tuesday and may release the first list of candidates for the 2019 Council elections.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, working president, UDP, Bindo Lanong said that the meeting will be held at 11:30 am. The CEC is likely to announce the names as part of preparation for the Council polls. When asked on the common candidate for Lok Sabha polls as names of former MLAs Jemino Mawthoh and Paul Lyngdoh surfaced, he said: “The party will discuss on the matter. The party will have to take into consideration the effectiveness of the candidate, their contribution to the state vis-à-vis the country.”
