Youth of N-E will soon lead the country: Meghalaya Governor

GUWAHATI: Governor of Meghalaya, Tathagata Roy has said, “There is no dearth of talent among the youth in the Northeast which has been proved by youth leaders like Mary Kom, Hima Das, Siva Thapa by earning laurels in the global arena.   Young filmmaker and director Rima Das has contributed immensely in the field of cinema and her “Village Rock Stars” has gone global because of the outstanding quality of the movie. Because of the exemplary achievements of these youth leaders from the region, the rest of the country has started viewing Northeast differently with utmost respect. The day is not far when the youth of Northeast will lead the country.”

The Governor of Meghalaya was delivering his speech at the 3rd edition of distinguished lecture session on “The Northeast Youth of Today is the driving force of Tomorrow’s India” at Sri Sri Madhabdev International Auditorium here under the aegis of  Byatikram MASDO on Monday, according to a Press communiqué issued here on Tuesday.

Special Guests of the evening included  Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanveer Mansur, Assistant High Commissioner Bangladesh to India, P S Reddy , Principal, Sai Vikash College, Razvee Hussain, Secretary,Tourism Dept. Govt. of Assam,  Sanjoy Singh, Chairman, Jetwings, Banashree Gogoi, Secretary General, Gauhati High Court Bar Association, Pankaj Kumar Pathak, Krishan Morcha, Member, PSC Railway Board, Mridupaban Neog, Member, Ministry of Home Affairs  and Dr. Saumen Bharatiya , President , Byatikram MASDO.
