BSF destroys 400 kg of hemp in GH

SHILLONG: A joint team of BSF jawans and police destroyed three of the 14 patches of land used for hemp cultivation at Kuligaon in South West Garo Hills on Saturday.
Around 400 kg of hemp was destroyed on the first day of operation while the remaining, around 1000 kg, will soon be destroyed, a media statement said.
The hemp, which was meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh, will be disposed of after comprehensive planning by DC Office, SWGH, the release said.
The three patches of land belonged to Durga Hazong, Vishwajeet Hazong and Sujeet Hazong.
Besides the 14 plots, more than 50 patches (weighing approximately 100 quintal of raw hemp) is yet to be destroyed.
