ONGC provides drinking water plant to century-old school

GUWAHATI:  The ONGC has set up drinking water plant at the century-old Dholebagan HS School in Charaideo district of Assam that will benefit over 700 students, teachers and staff of the school.

The project was inaugurated by Executive Director-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset, S D Maske at the historic Dholebagan HS School, Charaideo District on October 27, 2018. The School, established in 1919, is celebrating its Centenary Year.

Providing clean & safe drinking water in schools, in and around ONGC’s operational area, is a CSR initiative by ONGC Assam Asset in association with ONGC’s All India OBC & MOBC Employees Welfare Association.

It may be mentioned that in Financial Year 2017-18, ONGC’s School Drinking Water Project benefitted more than 10,000 School Children in 32 Schools in Sivasagar and Charaideo Districts, at a project cost of Rs.1.07 Crore.

In Financial Year 2018-19 the project is being extended to another 52 Schools, which would benefit more than 15,000 School Children at a project cost of Rs.1.68 crore. Inaugurating the projects, Executive Director-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset, S D Maske  interacted with the students of Dholebagan HS School, inquiring about various facilities available in the school and how ONGC can supplement further infrastructural development of the historic school.

On receiving the feedback from the students he announced financial support of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) for sports items and musical instruments for the school and further assured to extend financial support for procurement of Desks & Benches for classrooms and Science Laboratory equipment under CSR initiative.  The ONGC official requested the School Management to submit proposal for the same through the District Administration at the earliest.

Pradip Buragohain, Principal, Dholebagan HS School welcomed the project as an invaluable gift to the school on its Centenary Year. Addressing the students, teachers, parents and local people assembled on the occasion at the school, Executive Director-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset, Mr. S D Maske emphasised that ONGC is giving focused attention to empower people through CSR projects & initiatives. He thanked the School Management for making ONGC part of its Centenary Year celebrations.
