New commission for MSERC
The State Cabinet has approved the proposal to set up a two-member commission in Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC).
The decision came after the Supreme Court recently directed various state governments to constitute the committee with a retired chief justice or judges of the high court or retired judges of the district as members.

Event organisers’ fee hiked
The Cabinet on Monday accepted the proposal of the Taxation Department to increase the fees of event organisers.
As per the proposal submitted, the deputy chief minister said the government will charge a fee of Rs 25,000 per day for events with crowd of 2,000 and above.
He said the government at the same time will charge Rs 20,000 per day for events with footfall less than 2,000 per day. “The government also decided to introduce a new slap to be known as Super Mega Event where it will charge up to Rs 1 lakh per day for an event which has a crowd of more than 5,000,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet had also approved the proposal of renaming the Sericulture and Weaving Department as Department of Textiles.
