SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has refused to vacate the stay on the process of selecting a bidder for Saubhagya scheme.
During the hearing on October 23, the court had directed the state government not to proceed further till the next order.
The counsel for the government had submitted that technical bid was already opened and found that three bidders were eligible. He had also submitted that if the matter was not decided as early as possible, the money sanctioned by the Centre would return.
Considering the submission advanced by the counsel, the government was directed to file a counter-affidavit within a week.
On Friday, the court heard senior counsel for the petitioner as well as the additional AG for the respondent.
The additional AG pressed for vacating the stay order as the matter was urgent but the court was not inclined as the entire matter would become infructuous.
However, considering the submission made by the additional AG, the matter has been listed after a week for rejoinder affidavit as well as hearing. “In the meantime, interim order shall remain in force till the next date,” the order said.
