SHILLONG: Nongthymmai MDC, Latiplang Kharkongor has informed that he will contest the 2019 Council polls as an Independent candidate.
He was addressing the meeting of the core group and informed the members of his decision on Friday. He also welcomed Teilang Lyngdoh who quit the UDP and extended support to Kharkongor.
“We will decide on the symbol later,” he said.
Asked, Kharkongor said, “The political party is only a uniform. It is the electorate who elected me and they did not elect the party.”
