SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister, in charge PWD, Prestone Tynsong has promised reviving Rongai Valley project in Chibinang which has remained a non-starter for long.
Tynsong along with senior officials of the department made a thorough survey of the project, adding the project is going to emerge as multipurpose project since it is one of the biggest projects in the plain belt areas of West Garo Hills.
The Deputy chief Minister also addressed large gathering there and lauded the local MLA for raising the important project.
SGE Mominin is the second MLA from this constituency after Late MI Sarker to take up project very seriously , Tynsong said
The Rongai Valley Medium irrigation project in Chibinang which has remained embroiled in controversy for over a decade.
The project was sanctioned in the year 1990 by the Planning Commission, New Delhi at a cost of Rs 1630.00 laths.
While the barrage of the project was completed, the project landed into several controversies over the payment of contractors and issues of payment for the land acquisition.
