Hek calls for tough handling of law breakers

SHILLONG: Health and Family Welfare Minister,A L Hek has urged the Home Department to be firm while dealing with people who take law into their hands.

The statement came from the Cabinet Minister of the MDA Government after Hek and PHE minister Samlin Malngiang visited NEIGRIHMS to check on CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing  on Monday. She has been undergoing treatment in the Hospital.

During the visit, both the minister’s  met the family members of Kharshiing and extended moral support to the family members.

Hek and Malngiang also condemned the perpetrators who attacked Kharshiing. The grievously injured CSWO president continues to be in ventilator.

The PRO of the NEIGRIHMS said that her vitals were stable and doctors in the institute were leaving no stone unturned for Kharshiing.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by John Kharshiing, the brother of Agnes Kharshiing said that she continues to be under ventilator and was still critical but stable  whereas her colleague Amita Sangma was slowly recovering.

He also informed that large number of people from far and near continued to visit the hospital to inquire about health of Agnes Kharshiing. Those visiting the hospital included the DGP of Meghalaya R. Chandranathan, Rev Father Robert Sawian, Rev. Pastor Robert Cunvile, Lovita Morang, filmmaker, artist and human rights activist from Assam,  Champion Sangma, Garo Hills, M Rapsang, MLA, BM Lanong, former Deputy Chief Minister , Celestine Lyngdoh, ex-MLA, Kennedy Khyriem, ex- MLA, Executive Committee, Dorbar Dong, Boyce Road, Laitumkhrah, Seng Kynthei Upper Shillong. Many  senior government officials also visited the hospital.
