SHILLONG: A German couple Eberhard Friedrich and Gisela Friedrich, who is on India tour, witnessed two big festivals of Meghalaya i.e Nongkrem Dance and 100 Drums Wangala Festival.
Reporters approached Gisela who was seen enjoying the dance, struggling to speak in English and she called out her husband Eberhard who readily spoke to mediapersons.
Speaking about North East, he said, “The region and its people are different more other parts of India. Last year, we were in Darjeeling and Sikkim which are also interesting.”
He expressed his happiness to be in India.
After witnessing Wangala festival a few days ago, he was treated with another traditional delight on Monday.
Unwilling to take rest and all geared up to explore, Eberhard said they will visit Nagaland next for the Hornbill festival.
“We had a long trip in a group and we are happy to be here. The North East India is very different from South and South West India,” he added.
When asked whether the couple would come back to Shillong, he said that they haven’t thought about it yet.
