SHILLONG: CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing, who was assaulted in East Jaintia Hills, is recovering and doctors at NEIGRIHMS may shift her to ICU from ICCU.
According to John Kharshiing, Dr P Bhattacharya, head of the Anaesthelogy Critical Care Department, said based on assessments and recovery, doctors are likely to make a step down on Saturday and move Kharshiing to the ICU ward.
Her companion Amita Sangma, who was also assaulted, is recovering too.
Kharshiing’s brother said members of the Naga Elders’ Forum were among those who visited the activists in the hospital on Friday.
It was also learnt that additional security arrangements have been made at NEIGRIHMS and installation of CCTV cameras is in progress.
108 pilot visits
Amid the bigwigs who visited Kharshiing at NEIGRIHMS on Friday was Ialamshaphrang Lakiang, a 108 pilot who drove the ambulance on the fateful day from Ialong Civil Hospital, Jowai, to NEIGRIHMS.
Lakiang said he was praying all the way.
