BSF nabs seven cattle smuggling in Garo Hills

SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed at Baghmara, South Garo Hills arrested 7 cattle smugglers on Saturday. Observing suspicious vehicles plying from Baghmara to Phanda on Hill road, the troops entered into a car chase with the smugglers in Bolero pickup truck after they refused to stop.
The chase ended with the arrest of 7 men from Goalpara, Assam. 29 cattle valued at more than Rs 4 lakh along with few Indian currency were seized.
Joynal Abedin (29), Ajijul Haque (32), Shohidul Islam (22), Sanowar Hossain (24), Mohiruddin Ali (23), Intaj Ali Fakir (48) and Fajal Haque (37) were handed over to the concerned department for legal action.
BSF has stepped up its drive against smugglers and intensified its operations at the Indo-Bangla border. BSF has also alerted its troops keeping in view the coming general elections in Bangladesh.
