Laptops distributed to toppers

SHILLONG: In order to encourage students to excel in the field of education, the Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural group on Saturday organised the 15th meritorious award here in the city.
Awards were given to 425 students from South Shillong at State Central Library.
Awards were also conferred to underprivileged students from below poverty line, school drop outs and persons with different abilities who have passed out in any division.
Over 130 laptops were awarded to toppers from 30 different categories.
The function was inaugurated by Andrew Simons, Commissioner and Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons, the president of the organisation and local MLA Sanbor Shullai said that the number of students have increased, which shows that the endeavor has really paid off.
“It is an encouragement for the students so that they can shine in the educational scenario and bring laurels to themselves and their family,” he said.
