Centre sanctions Rs 350 crore for National Games stadium

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said the main stadium, to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 350 crore, for the National Games 2020 has been sanctioned.
Speaking at the 2nd Mawkynrew Cup Football Tournament 2018-19, he said, “To host the National Games, we will need many stadiums, especially in Shillong.”
He lauded the sports minister who managed to get the main stadium sanctioned by the Centre within 7-8 months of the formation of the new government.
The chief minister rued the poor road condition in Mawkynrew district and assured that the government will build better road from Mawkynrew to Jatah.
