NONGPOH: A student studying in Class XI at Alpha English Higher Secondary School, identified as Rani Rongpeit, was seriously injured when an overspeeding sumo coming from Shillong towards Guwahati hit her while she was crossing the road on her way to school to sit for her examination.

Sources informed that the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at Nongpoh. She was hit by a sumo having registration number MZ01 J9094 leaving her seriously injured.

The driver of the sumo instead of stopping his vehicle and take the injured girl to hospital, he tried to run away from the spot without even stopping his vehicle.
