3 kidnaps in Assam in 3 days

GUWAHATI: In a spurt of kidnapping cases in Assam, three abductions have been reported in the state in the last as many days. The manager of a tea garden in Sapekhati of Charaideo district, Nomol Chandra Baruah, was reportedly kidnapped from his official residence late last evening. His wife, who was present during the abduction, said a group of men introduced themselves as ULFA(I) members and took away her husband. Police have launched investigation. In another abduction case on Tuesday, a businessman, Babul Deb, was kidnapped at gunpoint from Phuloni bazaar area of Karbi Anglong district last evening. Another kidnapping took place in Jagun area of Tinsukia district on November 19. Suspected ULFA (I) had kidnapped the manager of a stone quarry, Apurba Kakoti. (UNI)
