3 children killed as bomb explodes in Arunachal village
Itanagar: Three children, aged between 2 to 10 years, were killed when a live bomb they thought was a toy went off near an Army firing range in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district, an official said Sunday. The incident occurred at Chirang village under Hayuliang circle on Saturday evening. The children, including two girls, were playing with the live explosive device, which was collected by their parents from the nearby firing range and kept at their house. They died on the spot, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) D Riba. The victims have been identified as Anisha Krong (10), a student of Class V, Yuman Krong (2) and Riya Krong (8), said Khupa police station incharge Hage Loder. Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed shock and grief over the incident. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the victims from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Khandu cautioned the villagers to avoid going near danger zones like the firing ranges. He requested the Army to issue an advisory or put up signboards, saying ‘Danger Zone’ or ‘Restricted Area’, to avert trespassing. “Such incidents should not recur for which extreme precautionary measures has to be put in place by the Army, the civil administration and the village elders,” Khandu said in a statement. Tripura couple arrested with banned drug
Agartala: In a joint operation BSF and police has seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets and arrested two drug peddlers from Boxanagar village under Sepahijala district in West Tripura. Police said that based on specific information received on Saturday, BSF and Kalamcherra police personnel raided the house of one Ashiker Rahman (37). During the raid, packets of Yaba Tablets were found. Both Rahman and his wife Nargis Begum (35) were arrested under the NDPS act. (UNI)

Hornbill Festival
Kohima: The Nagaland Art and Culture (A&C) Department has set the stage for daily cultural performances during the Nagaland Hornbill Festival. The performances will be held at the main arena at Kisama in Naga Heritage Village near Kohima from December 1 to 10. Additional Director of Art and Culture Chubala Sangtam has informed that cultural troupes from all the tribes within and outside the state would be arriving soon to showcase their colourful traditional attires with lively songs and dances. She said that artist corner at the World War II museum premises in Kisama and Dimapur will host art sales, demonstrative arts and live sketching, painting exhibition, art competition, slideshows and others.
