JOWAI: The Centre stopped fund for the Iawmusiang market project because the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) made a mistake in its utilisation certificate.
During the short winter session of the council on Tuesday, Moonlight Pariat questioned the house about the delay in completion of the DoNER-funded project.
To this, the member in charge replied that the PWD has completed 40 percent construction and the remaining work was stopped due to unavailability of funds. A surprised Pariat said, “It is a central scheme and how can there be non-availability of funds.”
At that time, chief executive member MB Rymbai replied that there was a mistake in the submission of the utilisation certificate.
The House was informed that the DoNER Ministry found that about 2,000 sq ft of the construction was missing from the site plan and it had questioned this. So there is a delay in releasing the second instalment.
The renovation and re-development project was sponsored by the DoNER in 2001-02.
The chief minister said in the Assembly on Tuesday that his government would take up all pending projects for completion.
