Montfort Centre to receive National Award on Monday

TURA: Montfort Centre for Education at Danakgre near Tura which has been promoting inclusive education especially to the differently abled students from the region is being bestowed a National Award by the Government of India in recognition of services rendered by it.

The presentation of the award will be done by the President of India at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday, the occasion of World Disabled Day.

Montfort Centre for Education in Tura was established in the year 1995 with the sole purpose of imparting quality education to the youths of Garo Hills and beyond. Since its establishment, specially trained teachers have been imparting education to boys and girls beginning from Classes KG to XII. Students at the institution have access to all forms of facilities for both mental and physical aspects. Overtime, the centre has been catering to students with varied disabilities like visually impaired, hearing impaired, locomotors disability, cerebral palsy, autism and Intellectually Impaired.

So far, the Montfort is also looking after several other institutions and centres which include Study centre for B.Ed and Foundation Course, Vision, Audiometry and Speech Therapy Centre, St Louis Hostel for Boys with disabilities and St Francis De Sales Convent and Hostel for Girls with Disabilities.
