Mawpynthih mob assaults govt officials

SHILLONG: Government officials were assaulted and threatened while they were trying to conduct a meeting at Durbar Hall, Mawpynthih in East Khasi Hills recently.
IB Marbaniang lodged a complaint that on December 8 around 9 am, when the complainant along with O. Riang, Superintending Engineer, MePDCL, Vikash Chandra, Manager, North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERSIP) and Peter Passah, BDO, Mylliem C&RD Block, were trying to conduct a public meeting at Mawpynthih, they were verbally and physically abused by a mob from the villageand were also threatened with dire consequences.
