SHILLONG: The Border Area Headman Association on Wednesday filed an FIR at Nonghyllam Police Station, South West Khasi Hills, against some Lyngams from Amarsang and Thadteja for shooting at two Garos from Umtyngkut village on November 10.
The secretary and president of the association, SD Shira and Kelvinstone T. Sangma respectively, in the complaint said the two boys, Gisimesh Ch. Marak and Danseng G. Momin, were returning from Nongjri Bazaar on the day of the incident.
Marak died on the spot while Momin survived. The association alleged a person named Elios Nongbri, the agent of Kur Nongjri Langjali, was involved.
They went on to allege that there were four masked gunmen, adding “They were speaking in Hindi but it is understood they were Lyngams from their accent.”
The association also said that action should be taken against the headman of Amarsang as well.
They also provided a list of names of people who are going around with guns to Umtyngkut village and were involved in shooting. These include Aldut Nongbri, Ansel Nongbri, Kenedict Nongbri, Tharsius Rongrin, Bali Nongbri, Bitdu Nongbri, Chailang Nongbri and Martin Nongbri.
The association has urged the police to make a thorough investigation into the matter and punish the culprits.
