SHILLONG: After many delays, the Umsning bypass, which is an integral part of the Umiam-Jorabat expressway, will be completed before January 15.
The bypass is more or less completed and only one side has been opened to commuters.
The work for the project was delayed reportedly due to financial issues in the IL&FS, which is implementing the project.
However, sources said the funds have come recently and work has begun once again.
An official said final works, like at the junction to connect to Umsning town, are left and these will be complete by January 15.
Once the bypass is complete, the Umiam-Jorabat four-lane road project will finally be complete.
