Maldivians asked to report on possible graft of prior govt

Colombo: The Maldives’ government has asked citizens to report information regarding allegations of corruption during the tenure of a strongman leader defeated in elections last year.
The statement from the Maldives president’s office on Wednesday which came a day after police questioned ex-President Yameen Abdul Gayoom over alleged illegal financial transactions for the third time, said information on cases of corruption and abuse of power within state institutions from January 1, 2012, to November 17, 2018, could be reported to the Presidential Commission on Corruption and Asset Recovery.
