SHILLONG: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has accorded sanction for the creation of 301 posts of nursing personnel for NEIGRIHMS.
In a statement issued here on Friday, NEIGRIHMS said this was only the beginning as more posts are likely to be sanctioned in phases, which would open the doors for qualified nurses to gain employment in the institute.
Referring to shortage of doctors in the Anesthesiology department, the statement said that the number of patients has increased manifold and new surgical specialty has come up over the last 10 years, whereas the number of doctors has remained the same.
The administration raised the matter with the Standing Finance Committee in 2017 and subsequently projected a demand for creation of 15 faculty and additional 30 senior resident posts in the Department of Anesthesiology.
“As soon as the sanction is obtained, the process of selection will start,” the statement said while adding that seven faculties are in place at the department while one post has been advertised.
It was also informed that interviews for selection of senior resident doctors is being conducted almost every month to ensure availability of senior residents in all the departments to its full strength. Next date for selection of senior residents is scheduled on January 21.
In response to a news item in the recent past, the Director of the Institute, clarified that like in other autonomous institute, NEIGRIHMS faculty can avail one month vacation either in December or January, ensuring that at least fifty percent of faculty is working in either of the two months.
He further said all the wards, ICUs & OT’s are getting centralized manifold connectivity by March, for the first time since commissioning of the institute.
