Arunachal Guv extends Makar Sankranti greetings

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Sunday extended greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The Governor, in his message said, ?Makar Sankranti is one of the most auspicious occasions for the Hindu community. This sacred day, marks the beginning of a propitious phase of nature’s transition and the wheel of time. It also marks the beginning of warmer and longer days in the run up to the next equinox.? ?For Arunachal Pradesh, this festival has a special meaning. The holiest of the Holy bathing place, Parshuram Kund, is located in Lohit District of Arunachal Pradesh. Every year, on Makar Sankranti day thousands of people visit the sacred place and take holy dip in the Kund with reverence and religious fervor,? he stated.
