Planning Board chairman inspects Smit PHC

SHILLONG: The chairman of the  State Planning Board, Lambor Malngiang on Tuesday inspected Smit PHC in the presence of senior officials from the Health Department including the DMHO and he visited the wards and interacted with the staff and OPD patients.

During the inspection, he directed the Health Department to fill the existing vacancies in the PHC and to carry out immediate renovation of the main building even as he further directed the M&HO to hold regular meetings and coordinate with the office of the BDO, Mawrynkneng to ensure that the PHC is able to cater to the villages.

The Chairman requested the Health Department to explore the possibility of opening a CHC either in Smit or the neighbouring area, wherein the land for the same would be provided by the community.

He also expressed satisfaction with the existing services rendered by the Doctors and staff of the PHC and implored upon them to work with the community to ensure satisfactory medical services particularly to the disadvantaged families.
