Coal mine rescue operation to continue: Meghalaya minister

SHILLONG: Following the detection of one of the bodies inside the coal mine at Ksan in East Jaintia Hills, Revenue and Disaster Minister, Kyrmen Shylla on Thursday said that the rescue operations would continue for now.

He said that the government had not taken any decision to call off the operations and the matter would be discussed at a later stage.

Stating that the authorities were trying to identify the body which was recovered in the coal mine, he said that the Government would try to recover all the trapped miners.

It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court too has asked the State and the Central Government to continue with the rescue operations.

Recently, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong stated  that the decision with regards to the continuation of the rescue operation would be taken after getting the opinion of the experts who have been engaged in the rescue operations.
