Malngiang asks Health Dept to fill Smit PHC vacancies

SHILLONG: The chairman of the State Planning Board, Lambor Malngiang, inspected the Smit PHC on Tuesday.
During the inspection, he directed the Health Department to fill the existing vacancies in the PHC and to carry out immediate renovation of the main building. He also directed the M&HO to hold regular meetings and coordinate with the office of the BDO at Mawrynkneng to ensure that the health centre is able to cater to the villages.
Malngiang requested the department to explore the possibility of opening a CHC either in Smit or in the neighbouring area and the land for the same will be provided by the community.
The Plan Board chairman was happy with the existing services rendered by the doctors and staff of the PHC and implored upon them to work with the community for better services, particularly to the poor families.
He inspected the PHC in the presence of senior officials from the Health Department, district health office and visited the wards and interacted with the staff and OPD patients.
