Hope brightens for Presbyterian church in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi will be able to construct its first church in the national capital since the Centre will soon change its land use policy.
This was intimated to the Meghalaya Minister for Health and Information, A L Hek, by the Union Minister for Urban Development H S Puri. Hek had a meeting with him before leaving for Shillong on Sunday.
The government had stopped allotting land for religious purposes some time ago. Now the policy is being reviewed and plots will be allowed as places of worship provided the sect had no such place in the national capital.
The Synod will get the first opportunity to get the land since it does not have a church at all. “Once the policy is reviewed your Synod will be the first to be allotted land for a church,” Puri told Hek.
