Suo-moto case
A suo-moto case was registered at Williamnagar Police Station that a bandh was called by NESO on January 8, 2019, in the entire East Garo Hills District in protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and that during the bandh, all shops and business establishments remained closed in Williamnagar town (EGH), commercial and private vehicles were off the road and very low attendance of government employees.

Assault
On January 24 around 1 am, one Nur Jaman Ali of Thakuranbari (SWGH) assaulted Sanjiv Ali (19).The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Ampati civil hospital for treatment.
A complaint was lodged that on January 22, one Chinseng S Momin of Rongkon Songgital, Tura (WGH) assaulted a woman after she was subjected to false promise of marriage. He also threatened the victim with dire consequences.

Theft
Eulinda Nongbet lodged a complaint that on January 24 afternoon, miscreants stole her scooty (ML-05P-1592) which was parked at Cathedral Church Compound, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
Madhab Chandra Das lodged a complaint that on the intervening night of January 22 and January 23, miscreants broke into the Survey Cooperative Consumer Store at Survey of India premises, Estate Campus, Malki, Shillong and stole cash Rs. 5,000.
Major Teri Keyang c/o 99 APO PIN-918394 lodged a complaint that on January 22, miscreants stole twenty pairs of 110 meters long jelly-filled cables near the Office of Garrison Engineer, Shillong.
Samkuparlang Latam of Howell Road, Laban, Shillong lodged a complaint that on January 11 night, miscreants stole one car tape from his compound.

One knocked down
Slinder Thabah, VDP president of Mawblei village (WKH) lodged a complaint that on January 23 around 12.30 am, VDP members on duty signaled one vehicle to stop but the vehicle (ML-06-7530) driven by Kording Wahlang ignored it and knocked down one member Andreas Ryntathiang. The victim sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Nongstoin.
