Ampati: Minister for Health & Family Welfare A.L. Hek visited Ampati Civil Hospital and gave his assurance to the district administration and the Hospital authorities that all issues and problems affecting the functioning of the hospital would be looked into expeditiously.

Health Minister, who was accompanied by local MLA Miani D. Shira, Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S, District Police chief B.S.W. Momin held a brief meeting with the district Health officials and doctors at the hospital conference room where he was apprised of the basic requirements as well as issues concerning the hospital like construction of boundary and retaining wall, doctors’ quarters, completion of additional building, incomplete furnishing of the hospital, absence of a morgue in the hospital and requirement of additional building for ultra-sonography and X-ray machines.

However, water is the major problem affecting the hospital in terms of high iron content due to which hospital equipments get corroded fast and the hospital laundry too has to be done elsewhere and hence there is urgent requirement for filter to treat the water.

The minister assured the hospital authorities that their problems and grievances would be addressed with due urgency. He assured that he would work together with the local MLA Miani D. Shira to resolve these issues as the local MLA had also apprised him of the difficulties being faced by the people of the district as patients have to go all the way to Tura or to hospitals in Assam even for minor ailments due to lack of facilities in the hospital.

“We will work together with the local MLA to jointly address and resolve the problems being faced by the hospital and people of the district because our intention to reach out to the people and respond to their needs,” he said.

The minister, who lauded the hospital authorities for its proper maintenance, also directed the district health officials to ensure that all poor and deserving beneficiaries in the district are enrolled for the third phase of MHIS. He also met and interacted with the patients in the hospital during his visit.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S initiated the discussion on issues of the hospital and also handed over the memorandum to the Minister.
