Meghalaya bans Bailley

SHILLONG: The state government on Monday banned the sale of Bailley packaged drinking water and Bailley soda.
In a statement, the government said in view of the prohibition issued by the Assam government on manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of the Bailley brand beverages manufactured by M/S Padmesh Beverages, Satgaon, Udayan, Vihar, Kahilakuchi, Guwahati, the Joint Commissioner of Food Safety, Meghalaya instructed the food safety officers to seize the stocks of the brand’s packaged drinking water and soda from the wholesalers, distributors and retailers in the state and draw samples and send for analysis by the food analysts.
The order said as a precautionary measure, no packaged drinking water (Bailley brand) and Bailley soda will be sold in the market till the analysis reports of the seized stocks are received from the laboratory.
