Youth parliament held in city

SHILLONG: The ICFAI University Meghalaya NSS Cell organised the District Youth Parliament (DYP) on Monday under the National Youth Parliament 2019 organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
The purpose of the parliament is to allow the youth from between 18 to 25 years of age a platform to view their opinions on the topics such as India sets global narratives on terrorism, India sets global narratives on economic offenders, India sets global narratives on climate change, Khelo India: A gateway for building sports persons, best time for India sports persons to make a mark.
The programme was inaugurated by A. Gatpoh, VC of ICFAI University Meghalaya in the presence of B.D. Cajee (State NSS Officer). The participants were adjudged by a panel of jury comprising Richard Kahit, Panchayat Head, L. S. Gassah, retired officer, Bobby Wahlang, social worker, Lakhon Kma, writer, Mebada L. Nongbri, educationist.
A total of 42 participants from the East Khasi Hills expressed their views and 3 best participants will be selected for the state level to be held on February 7 at NEHU. The winners are Yarisa Wahlang Kharbuli, Erenbeni Humtsoe and Samprit Shah in the first, second and third place respectively.
