M’laya athletes stage splendid performance in Marathon

SHILLONG: Team RUNMeghalaya participated in the IDBI Kolkata Marathon this Sunday, February 3. This was the highest contingent of 31 runners from any single group that took part in the Marathon of 42.195km, the Half Marathon of 21.09km and the 10k Race. The team won many positions in the overall category and in the age-group categories securing 9 podium positions overall.Results as follows: The total number of runners took part is 31. Winners for Marathon ( 42.195 km), 1st Position Overall – Tlanding Wahlang 2hr 35mins, 3rd Position Overall- Fullningstar 2hr 41mins, 1st Position 50yrs above Age Category – Swonding Mawlong 3hr 8mins, 3rd Position 18 – 35yrs Age Category – Marvin Kharkongor 2hr 51mins; Winners for Half Marathon (21.09 km): 1st Position – Dateibankynmaw Marwein 1hr 39mins (18-35yrs  Female Category), 3rd Position – Jomsingstar Ramseij 1hr 14mins (18-35 yrs  above Age category), 1st Position – Dr. Carolyne Lyngdoh ( 2hr 8mins above 45-50 yrs Age Category).Winners in the 10KM Run; 1st Position Overall Darishisha Iangjuh 42 mins, 3rd Position Emilia Makri 38 mins 14-35yrs Age Category. RUNMeghalaya’s A team is also getting ready for the IDBI New Delhi Marathon on the last week of February which is also an Open National race where Krestarjune Pathaw, Tlanding Wahlang and Darishisha Iangjuh will be competing in the Elite Category. Tlanding Wahlang will be the first person from Meghalaya who will be representing the Indian Team in the World Ultra Trail Championship this June in Portugal.
