Review meeting of PAC held in Tura

TURA: The implementation of schemes and programmes in west Garo Hills District was reviewed on Thursday at Tura Circuit House by Chairman, Sub-Committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Zenith Sangma along with the Members of the Sub-Committee, PAC Rakkan Sangma, MLA Siju-Rongara and Lazarus Sangma, MLA Chokpot Constituency.

 Initiating the discussion, the Chairman, Public Accounts Committee Zenith Sangma stated that the meeting is being held in order to discuss how the schemes could be implemented properly within the stipulated time frame by adhering to the guidelines of various programmes and that the people are benefitted to the maximum by implementing these programmes in the district. Further, the Chairman said that it is important to identify the ground realities, progress and challenges and discuss about improvement as well as solving the problems faced while implementing these schemes in the respective districts.

 While discussing the status, key performance and financial status of various schemes and programmes including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), NRLM, Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY)/ Prime Minister Awaas Yojana (PMAY), IGNOAPS and SRWP in the district, the Chairman along with other Members directed the concerned department to utilized the schemes properly in the district so that the people of the district gets the maximum benefit from it.

 Sangma advised the concerned Officers to encourage and focus in promoting renewable natural resources in sync with Livelihood programmes of the district and also to train them in such a way that they are motivated to work hard to be self reliant in future.

 Siju-Rongara MLA, Rakkan Sangma and Chokpot MLA, Lazarus Sangma both also insisted on implementing the schemes properly in the district as well as to maintain timely payment especially to job card holders, etc.

 Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Community and Rural Development Department, I R Sangma, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, M T Sangma and Block Development Officers from the district were among others who attended the meeting.
