Mobile phones prohibited  in polling stations

Jowai: The Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, District Council Election, East Jaintia Hills District has issued directions in the matter pertaining to prevention of use of cellular phones inside the Polling Station.

A polling agent should not be allowed to leave the polling station nor is allowed to substitute them by their relieving agents after 2 pm. Polling agents/candidates or the election agent of candidate should not be allowed to carry cellular phone inside the polling station.

Likewise, electors are not allowed to carry any cellular phone inside the polling station. Only Presiding Officers and Sector Officers/Zonal Magistrate or other officers specially authorized by the Returning Officer are permitted to carry it inside the polling station.
