Jim Conrad K Sangma lodged a complaint that in January 2015, two SBI Life Insurance agents namely Swarajit Saha and Sudip Das from Chandmari branch, Tura, proposed him to invest in a policy which led to Sangma handing over a sum of Rs 5 lakh to the agents. However, on January 5 this year, Sangma found out that his LI policy account reflected ‘zero’ balance.
Mol Phawa lodged a complaint that after her ATM card was lost on March 4, she found out that a transaction of Rs 50,000 was made from her account.
2 dead in mishaps
On March 10, a vehicle (ML-05J-0349) driven by Md. Zashizal Hoque (49) dashed against a culvert at Chillipara village (SWGH). Hoque died on the spot and his 13-year-old daughter sustained grievous injuries. The latter was shifted to Civil Hospital in Tura.
On March 10 at 9.30 am, a seven-year-old boy namely Luckystar Lyngkhoi was hit by a vehicle (AS-01BL-0167) driven by Basudeo Ray (52) at Umbang (Ri Bhoi). As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong.
On March 9 around 2 pm, a pillion rider died when a motorcycle (ML-08F-2211) met with an accident in Chibinang (WGH). The pillion rider was taken to Civil Hospital, Tura, with grievous injuries where he died.
Revolver, ammo recovered
On March 10 around 2.30 am, residents of Lummawbah identified three persons on a motorcycle carrying no number plate in the locality. When the residents attempted to stop them, one managed to escape and two others, Albert Kurbah (33) of Lad-Mawreng (EKH) and Barabar Namsaw (22) of Patharkhmah (Ri-Bhoi), sustained injuries. Initially, they were shifted to Civil Hospital and then to NEIGRIHMS. Police recovered a revolver with ammunition from them.
