AGARTALA: Tripura Left Front on Tuesday re-nominated both the sitting MPs of CPI (M) for contesting upcoming the Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 11 and 18.
Left front chairman and veteran communist leader Bijan Dhar informed mediapersons that the CPI (M) state committee had earlier decided to field incumbent MP Shankar Prasad Datta from West Tripura constituency and Jitendra Chowdhury from East Tripura reserved constituency, which the Left Front committee had accepted.
“The Left Front constituents have resolved to fight unitedly against BJP in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls. The nominees of CPI (M) are unanimously accepted by the Front because of their performance in and outside the Parliament. Their presence in coming the Lok Sabha is also crucial for development of the state,” Dhar stated. (UNI)
