DC seeks reply from GHADC chief

SHILLONG: The district administration of West Garo Hills have sought clarification from the CEM of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) a day after Congress MDC Stevie Marak accused the NPP-led executive committee of the council of violating the model code of conduct.
Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh said based on media reports, the CEM has been asked to clarify the issue by Friday.
Marak had alleged that on the night of March 1, the NPP-led GHADC executive committee met at Tura Circuit House, created minutes of a meeting held on March 7 and issued cheques to withdraw 60 per cent of the recently released Excluded Area Fund of Rs 31,00,40,000
The Congress MDC had alleged that the act is in total violation of the model code of conduct for the upcoming MP elections which came in force when the election dates were announced.
It is an indication of mala fide intention, where the money withdrawn will be used for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
