SHILLONG: As the NPP and the Congress fire on all cylinders preparing for the clash of the titans in the Tura Lok Sabha seat, the ruling NPP has warned that the opposition party will suffer a fate similar to the one in the 2018 assembly elections and the more recent council polls.
The combined force of the MDA is up against battle-hardened Congress leader Mukul Sangma in Tura and sitting Congress MP Vincent Pala in Shillong.
NPP state president W R Kharlukhi on Saturday said that former MP and NPP candidate Agatha Sangma, backed by the coalition, will triumph over Mukul Sangma, while admitting with the latter in the fray it will be a clash of the titans.
Of the Shillong seat, he said that MDA candidate, Jemino Mawthoh, will win.
Talking about preparedness, Kharlukhi said that they are ready for battle.
Though less than a month is left for the polls, campaigning is yet to gain momentum as several parties are still finalising their list of candidates.
