RESUBELPARA: The Peace Club of Resubelpara, North Garo Hills, launched a programme celebrating Pre-World Environment Day and a Holiday Tree Plantation Drive on Thursday. Around 40 young environmentalists participated in the programme where saplings of different varieties like nagessor, mango and banyan were planted. The club has decided to plant saplings during weekends and holidays.
As per the club members, the awareness programme was organised to inculcate in people the idea of planting trees.
“We must love and protect the beautiful planet Earth. We are taught to act locally and think globally by our leader, KD Momin,” said 13-year-old Churike K Sangma, a member of the club.
The club lives with the ideology of ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’, which targets the masses to follow eco-friendly principles.
