GUWAHATI: The 3rd (Naga Hills) Battalion Assam Rifles has recovered contraband heroin from a vehicle during a checking at the Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Phesama in Kohima in the afternoon of Friday apprehended one Lenpingan Khongsai
Based on a specific information regarding move of contraband in a vehicle from KPI, Manipur to Kohima, the Assam Rifles set up the MVCP. Arrested Lenpingan Khongsai, a resident of Sirhima village under Ghaspani Police Station in Dimapur was carrying heroine in his vehicle (white bolero pickup, registration No NL-07A 8291), a Defence source informed.
The recovered items included 20 packets of heroine (each weighing 15 grams) packed in 20 soap case, one black leather bag and one white Bolero (NL-07A 8291).
Lenpingan Khongsai revealed that he had been told to hand over the heroine weighing in a total 300 grams to one Mrs Kholi resident of New Minister Hill, Kohima. Assam Rifles later handover apprehended Lenpingan Khongsai, his wife and three children to OC, South Police Station on Friday night.
