Body recovered
SHILLONG: An unidentified male body was recovered from Polo Bazar on March 26. The deceased was wearing a black woolen coat, black trouser and a coffee-coloured t-shirt. The physical appearance of the person includes short black hair, oval-shaped face with swarthy complexion and 5.1 ft height. Musical evening at Raj Bhavan
SHILLONG: The Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Shillong, on Friday informed that a ‘Musical Evening’ will be organised on Saturday at Raj Bhavan as ‘a tribute to our gallant armed forces’.The programme will commence from 7 pm onwards.
Public hearing on social impact
SHILLONG: A public hearing will be held at Morning School, Baniun village, East Khasi Hills at 11 am on April 2.The Meghalaya Institute of Governance has been notified as the State Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Unit to conduct Social Impact Assessment Study for acquisition of land from chainage 0.000 km to 10.500 km measuring an area of approximately 275645 sq. mtrs more or less for the purpose of improvement and widening to two-lane with paved shoulder/4 Laning of NH-40 Shillong to Dawki road in Meghalaya, at Rilbong, 3rd Mile, 5th Mile, 7th Mile, Baniun, Marbaniang to be constructed/developed by the State Government. All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to express their claims/objections/suggestions, if any, on the proposal.
Seminar on Khasi mandarin
SHILLONG: North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) in association with Northeastern Council organised a seminar on post Geographical Indication (GI) activities for Khasi mandarin at Mawkyrwat Dorbar Hall in South West Khasi Hills on Thursday. The programme witnessed a footfall of 108 farmers who were educated about the usage of GI registration and its legal rights. Bhanu Pratap Singh, an expert who attended the programme, attended the seminar through video conference. James Kharkongor, Project Manager, NERCORMP was also present. Singh was credited with arranging GI registration of 10 products from the North East in the name of Gol PSU.
Shillong Cantonment’s new VP
SHILLONG: Vikash Gupta has been elected as the new vice president of the Shillong Cantonment Board on Friday. He also took the oath at a meeting on Friday in the presence of the Board members, CEO and the president of the board.
