ICAR Research Complex organises voters’ awareness programme

SHILLONG: As per the directives from the Election Commission of India, the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region organised a voters’ awareness programme in the institute on Monday.

The programme was organised to sensitise the staffs about the rights and duty they have in the electoral process given that the ability to exercise the right to vote is to celebrate democracy as a festival.

The programme was attended by the scientific community along with technical and the administrative staffs of the institute. The Chief Administrative Officer of the institute, Krishna Kant Kulshreshtha  while addressing the gathering emphasised on the importance of casting our precious votes and to properly use the right vested on us as the citizens of the country.

He stressed on the fact that the Election Commission has taken various initiatives’ to spread awareness among the masses about the electoral process and ICAR is extremely privileged in spreading and sensitising the people about the celebration of world’s greatest and largest democracy.

Two brief presentations were conducted by Dr A K Jha head of the division of horticulture and Dr S K Das head of the division of fisheries.

The presentations were designed to pass the message that every vote counts and we should respect our vote and be responsible citizens. India is in the process of being a matured democracy and it is very important to inculcate the voters to exercise their rights and make a difference in the upcoming elections. With the message that “every vote counts to make a difference” the programme was concluded.
