SHILLONG: The FKJGP will write to the chairman of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) to appoint locals for the meter-reading job and not private companies operating from outside the state.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, president of the organisation Wellbirth Rani said that by giving the job to locals can be one way of giving them a regular employment.
As per his information, he said that the MeECL has allotted meter reading to private companies in Mawsynram, Mawkyrwat and other places.
Rani asserted the reason behind the rise in electricity bills is that the meter-readers do not check the meter properly and would come up with any random amount.
