Nongpoh: The traditional head of Raid Marwet, Ken Syiem along with leaders of FKJGP North Khasi Hills inspected Barapathar village under Umtyrnga which is under the jurisdiction of Marwet in Ri Bhoi, on Wednesday.
Syiem and the FKJGP leaders inspected the area to verify laying of water pipes by the PHE department of Assam on MGNREGS road at Barapathar.
After the inspection, leader of the FKJGP, Luistar Lyngdoh said that the motive by the Assam Government behind this initiative is to encroach inside the territory of Meghalaya. He added that they will not allow it to happen at any cost.
The leader also expressed concern over the failure of the state government to solve the long pending boundary issue with Assam. He also urged the elected representatives to take serious steps on this matter.
Meanwhile, the organisation and the traditional head of Raid Marwet also decided to meet Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, Rosetta Mary Kurbah seeking her intervention on this issue as well as to urge her to take steps in removing the pipelines laid by the PHE Department of Assam.
